Marketing Insights to Help You Grow Smart.

Are You Built for Growth, or Just Busy?

,

Let’s get real, most businesses and nonprofits say they want growth. But too often, they chase more visibility or post more content without a plan that connects to actual outcomes.

Smart growth doesn’t start with marketing tactics. It starts with clarity:

  • What are you trying to grow into and why?

  • Do your marketing efforts reflect your true value and capacity?

  • Are you building systems that convert attention into action and action into sustainability?

At Agency Jen, we believe in growth that’s measurable, meaningful, and aligned with your mission not just noise for the sake of staying busy.

Here’s a real-world example from a nonprofit I had the privilege to support as their Fractional CMO. Together, we assessed where they were, identified what was holding them back, and implemented a smart marketing strategy that aligned with their mission, and set them up for real, sustainable growth.

Real World Example: When Nonprofit Marketing Misses (and When It Works)

The Struggle Cycle (Marketing That Doesn’t Grow)

A nonprofit offering parenting classes and family resources shared great photos on Facebook and announced programs as they launched. But there was no consistent marketing calendar, and email only went out if someone remembered.

They relied heavily on word-of-mouth and community referrals, but enrollment fluctuated. Donors didn’t fully understand the long-term impact because there was no consistent way to connect the mission to measurable outcomes.

The result? Missed opportunities. Families didn’t know what was available, and funders didn’t see why they should care.

The Smart Growth Shift (Marketing That Works)

As their Fractional CMO, I worked alongside this nonprofit to rebuild their marketing from the inside out. We started by clearly defining their audiences: moms with toddlers, grandparents raising kids, and working families in transition, and matched their greatest challenges with the programs that offer simple, free solutions.

We then optimized their internal systems to streamline enrollment, ensuring that once marketing messages went out, their staff and systems were ready to convert interest into action.

Here’s what we focused on:

  • A lead-generating website with sign-up forms and automated welcome emails

  • A program calendar and marketing plan that builds anticipation and aligns content with real-time stories and staff highlights

  • A donor storytelling campaign that connects real lives to tangible outcomes and community impact

  • A cohesive brand system so the team could create and share materials quickly and confidently, always staying on-brand

The result? Families now discover programs through multiple intentional touchpoints, and donors see the impact before they’re ever asked to give. Instead of reactive, last-minute outreach, they now operate with a proactive, consistent strategy that reflects their mission and drives real growth.
